Cynthia Blair (Cynthia Baxter)’s new book, LAST LICKS, was released in hard cover, audio, and ebook editions by Kensington Books on Dec 31. It is the third book in her Lickety Splits mystery series.
Leslie Budewitz spoke on “Building Character” at a meeting of Authors of the Flathead in Kalispell, Montana on Dec 12. Leslie’s most recent book is CHAI ANOTHER DAY, a Spice Shop mystery set at Pike Place Market in Seattle, and published by Seventh Street Books.
Waverly Fitzgerald’s first PI Rachel Stern mystery, HARD RAIN, will be released in paperback by Epicenter Press this month. The ebook edition was released in November. A book launch and memorial celebration of Waverly, who passed away on December 13, will be held on Thurs, Feb 13, 7 pm, at Third Place Books, LFP.

Candace Robb will be speaking at the University Bookstore (U District) on Sat, Jan 11, 4–5 pm. She will join author Kim Zarins in a discussion of how they use Geoffrey Chaucer in their fiction. Chaucer appears as a character in two of Candace’s books – A CONSPIRACY OF WOLVES (the 11th Owen Archer mystery and her latest book) as well as the earlier historical novel, THE KING’S MISTRESS. Kim is the author of a contemporary retelling of Chaucer’s CANTERBURY TALES titled SOMETIMES WE TELL THE TRUTH.

James W. Ziskin’s seventh Ellie Stone mystery, TURN TO STONE, will be released on Jan 21 by Seventh Street Books. The advance reviews for this new adventure, set in Italy in 1963, call it “original and compelling” (Hank Phillippi Ryan).
