Susan Nolen shares that her short story “Anniversary Gifts” made the longlist in the Murder Squad’s 25th anniversary contest, and though it did not quite make the short list, it was one of two longlist stories that were “Highly Commended!” Judges were the members of the Murder Squad: Margaret Murphy, Cath Staincliffe, Chris Simms, Ann Cleeves, Martin Edwards, and Kate Ellis. Now to find it a home in a magazine or anthology.

Gerald Elias is pleased to announce a two-book deal with publisher Aakenbaaken & Kent, for the publication of two volumes of lighthearted crime fiction featuring retired NYPD police chief Maury Gross and his perspicacious wife, Bobbi. Murder On Vacation, a collection of 16 short mysteries, will be released this fall, followed by three novelettes in Murder Goes Abroad.

Belgrave House recently published Cynthia Baxter‘s psychological suspense novel What Charlie Knew But Didn’t Tell. The book is available as an e-book ($5) through the publisher’s website (Belgrave House) as well as through Amazon and Google Books.

Congratulations to Joyce Yarrow, whose book Zahara and the Lost Books of Light, published by All Bilingual Press, was selected for a 2024 PenCraft Book awards Best Book award in historical fiction.
