SinC Puget Sound

Welcome!

President’s Message

Dear Writer Friends,

Seattle Shakedown, Left Coast Crime was my first mystery writers’ convention. I’ve attended and spoken at plenty of conventions and conferences, but this was my first exposure to hundreds of mystery fans. Can we all agree they are an enthusiastic, fun-loving group?

We should applaud our chapter members who were integral to the success of the convention including Leslie Hall, Laurie Rockenbeck, Larry Keeton, and Kate Jackson. They invested enormous time and effort to ensure that LCC came off as planned.

And we should also congratulate our members who moderated or appeared on panels. I didn’t get to attend as many panels as I would have liked, but was impressed by how gracious, collaborative, and informative our members were.

Thank you to everyone who set up and staffed our display table. It looked inviting and professional. (I think we impressed SinC National.) And a special thank you to Maria Barrs for organizing the table and arranging for our Puget Sound buttons!

Upcoming meetings: In May, we’re talking marketing with Kate Jackson and Joyce Yarrow. In June we’re joined by legal expert Leslie Budewitz. You won’t want to miss her presentation on “Common Mistakes Fiction Writers Make About the Law.”

August 4 is our annual picnic, so save the date!

Happy Writing,

Catherine Linka
