Join us for our March meeting, 3/8/2017 at 7:00pm in the Stadler Room at Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park.

Our Program: Mystery Subgenres — A Panel of Writers

When you say you want to write a mystery, what exactly do you mean? Our genre includes a whole spectrum of subgenres from cozy and traditional to thriller and noir. On March 8, a panel of published authors will explain their subgenres, how they influence their plots and characters, and how readers respond.

Curt Colbert delves into the mindset of the private investigator in his Jake Rossiter & Miss Jenkins mysteries, set in Seattle just after World War II. He also edited the Akashic Books anthology, Seattle Noir.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Mary Daheim is the author of two long-running cozy series: the Bed-and-Breakfast mysteries (Here Comes the Bribe) and the Alpine mysteries (Alpha Alpine).

Dana Delamar writes romantic suspense. “International intrigue, dark heroes, and passionate nights” are central to her Blood and Honor series. Book 4, Reckoning, has one of the best reviews ever: “I burned Thanksgiving dinner because I couldn’t stop reading this book!” Book 1, Revenge, is currently free from her website.

New York Times bestselling author Boyd Morrison’s protagonist is a former army combat engineer in the Tyler Locke (The Loch Ness Legacy). He also co-writes thrillers with Clive Cussler, The Oregon Files (Typhoon Fury) as well as stand-alones.
